We love the Pioneer KURO PDP-5080HD 50 inch plasma (although its near impossible to find one at this point) but if you need a larger screen the Pioneer PDP-6010FD 60-inch 1080p Plasma HDTV is the top choice. You'll spend a few extra bucks for the KURO 1080p sets, but you'll also have the best HDTV currently available. At 60 inches 1080p makes sense for the typical viewing distance. The Pioneer KUROs produce a deep shade of black which improves not only and the punch of dark scenes, it also makes colors look richer and more saturated. That's why the 42 inch, 50 inch, and 60 inch KUROs are currently our top picks.

We're familiar with the 1080p Panasonic TH 58PZ750U 58 inch plasma HDTV, but it's hard to find, high priced, and doesn't accept 1080p/24 inputs. It does have a vivid and detailed picture, but still takes a back seat to the KUROs. We'll pass on this one and stick with the Pioneers. Perhaps the impending 2008 models will close the gap somewhat.
